Abhaile, Irish for "home" or "homeward", a simple word that says everything.


This print is set in Cló Gaelach, the traditional Gaelic script once used across Ireland before the move to Roman type, all rounded uncial letterforms and that distinctive dot for ponc instead of a following "h." It's the same style you'd have seen on old shop signs, road signs, and schoolbooks, brought back for your wall.

Look closely and you'll spot the ponc, a small dot placed over certain letters that stood in for a written "h" (so "bh" becomes "b" with a dot). It's a lovely little detail from Ireland's older print tradition, still legible and full of character today.
